TOUR ITINERARY

Let us head to the Þingvellir National Park first. This site is where the first Icelandic parliament was founded in 930 AD, one of the oldest in Europe. Furthermore, you will have the chance to walk from the European tectonic plate to the North-American one. This is clearly something you cannot do anywhere in the world, but luckily this is your time.

You probably heard the term geyser, but did you know that it originates from Geysir, making it the most famous geyser in the whole world. The little brother, “Strokkur” is still active today and erupts every 5-8 minutes, so you will have enough time to set up your cameras in order to catch this spectacular activity.

Gullfoss is our next stop, the golden waterfall. Being one the most powerful on the whole continent, up to 130 000 liters per second are flowing down to the depths. If the weather is sunny enough, you will be able to spot the Langjökull glacier as well on the horizon.

All this adventure probably made you hungry, so we have some good news for you, we are visiting the Friðheimar Tomato Farm, which is a prime example of the smart use of local geothermal energy. Through a short tour, you will be able to experience how this process works and enjoy the results at the restaurant. (please note the lunch is not included in the tour price)

The day is still not over yet. After seeing how geothermal energy works, it is time to enjoy the relaxing waters as well. Our last stop, the Secret Lagoon (“Gamla Laugin”) will definitely be something to enjoy. It was first opened in 1891 and is still a popular go-to place among the locals in the area. The temperature of the water is around 38-40° Celsius and this is the perfect way to end this great day.

Great introduction to some of Icelands key geological features.

Excellent introduction to some of the key natural wonders of Iceland, especially good to see them in the depth of winter. Waterfalls were spectacular. Friendly informative guide drove confidently and safely in severe weather and road conditions.
