A combination of a beloved destination and something brand new, this is what you will experience during this tour.
Let us start at Þingvellir National Park, one of the most important sights in early Icelandic history. The first-ever parliament was established here in 930 AD, making it the oldest in Europe. Plus, the geographical location makes it possible to walk from the European tectonic plate to the North-American one in just a few minutes.
You might have seen geysers in other countries, but have you seen the original geyser before? You have not? Well, this is the perfect day to visit Geysir (unfortunately rarely active these days) and its little brother, Strokkur. Strokkur being the young one, always wants to steal the show, get your cameras ready and wait for the next eruption, which happens every 5-8 minutes.
Up next, the mighty Gullfoss waterfall. The name translates to the “golden waterfall” and it is the most powerful in Europe, up to 130 000 liters per second are running down continuously. If the weather conditions are ideal, we can also spot the Langjökull glacier on the horizon.
After so much excitement you must be hungry. Fear not, we are stopping at a popular local establishment, the Friðheimar Tomato Farm. The greenhouse and the neighboring restaurant are prime examples of local geothermal energy use. Once we have learned a bit more about the process, it is time to eat. Please note, that the lunch is not included in the tour price.
One more stop awaits us before we return to the capital. The Kerid volcanic crater is located in the Grímsnes area. Its perfectly preserved shape and the aquamarine blue water at the bottom make this location truly spectacular.
Time for Iceland’s latest great attraction, the unique Sky Lagoon experience. Located in the Greater Reykjavik Area, this luxurious spa facility offers a seven-step “ritual”, that your body and mind will truly appreciate. Once your time is up, you will hardly want to leave this amazing wellness bath.
