About the tour
Our first stop is the Þingvellir National Park, an area with significant historical importance. The first Icelandic parliament was founded here in 930 AD, making it one of the longest-running political establishments in Europe. Furthermore, because of the location, it is possible to walk from the North-American to the European tectonic plate.
Let us head to the mother of all geysers, the mighty Geysir. Unfortunately, it is rarely active these days, but her little brother Strokkur is active every 5-8 minutes, so get your cameras ready in order to catch the action.
We are also visiting Gullfoss, the “golden waterfall”. In the summertime, up to 130 000 liters of water are running down the depths every second. Witnessing the true power of Mother Nature will be quite a spectacle.
Iceland’s use of geothermal energy is well-known. The Friðheimar Tomato Farm is a prime example and this is one of the reasons why we are heading there next. First, we will walk through the greenhouse, and afterward, we will enjoy the wonderful local dishes. Please note that the lunch is not included in the price.
The first half of the day is still not over, let us enjoy a relaxing swim in geothermal water. Your guide will take you to a beloved local swimming pool, called the Secret Lagoon, which opened its doors first in 1891 and still just as popular as back in the days. You will have plenty of time at this lovely sight to pamper yourself in the 38-40 °C hot water.
Northern Lights
This evening tour was created in order to increase your chances of seeing this natural phenomenon in the best possible way.
Our guides are experts when it comes to the Northern Lights and we always make the decision based on the forecast before 18:00, if we are heading out during the evening or not.
We focus on both quality and quantity, we never take more than 19 people on this tour and we always try the remote area without the big crowds. Onboard, we have cozy chairs and blankets to keep you warm, because the winter nights can be rather chilly. Furthermore, we are offering hot chocolate and the famous local “Kleina” pastries to make the experience even nicer.
Once the guide has confirmed the right spot, it is time for the hunt, get your cameras ready, and let the show begin. Do not worry, our knowledgeable staff can always assist you with your camera settings as well. In case you do not have a camera on you, your friendly tour expert will take some professional photos, to which you will have free access the next day.
Even with the best of guides, sightings can never be guaranteed. In case we can’t find any lights on the tour, you are welcome to book again for a Group Northern Lights Tour another day. Just inform us before 14:00 the next day, so we can guarantee you a seat.
In case we can’t operate the tour at all during your stay in Iceland, we will fully refund you the tour price.
