About the tour

Iceland’s latest attraction made its presence felt even before being visible to the curious visitors. In February 2021, the inhabitants of the Reyjanes area, where the volcano is located, experienced more than 40 000 tremors before the actual eruption commenced on the 19th of March in the evening.

If you are adventurous enough, this will be your perfect chance to see an active volcano in its full glory and see the process of something new being born.

Our trained guides will bring you as close as possible to the start of the hiking trail and you will start your hike to the actual sight.

The hike is around 3 kilometers one way and a moderate level of fitness is required as we have to walk up one steep hill before we reach the plateau. Once we get there, we can already spot the volcano in the distance. We will spend some time in the area to take stunning photos and videos.

After our hike back we will go to the Blue Lagoon. The beneficial powers of geothermal water were first discovered in the early 1980s when local residents began to bathe in the serene blue lagoon that had formed in the lava field beside the Svartsengi Geothermal Resource Park. Today, many decades after the first inquisitive souls began venturing into the water, the Blue Lagoon has blossomed from a humble curiosity into a wellspring of wonder. You can choose between three different packages during the checkout process. The admission to the Blue Lagoon is included in the price (comfort package), the upgrades to the different packages are available at extra cost.

We planned a full day Golden Circle trip with Holdiay Tours for 1 March 2026. We purchased the tickets back in november. A couple of days before the tour we sent multiple emails to the company, because we had some questions regarding the trip. We didn't recieve any answer so one day before the trip we tried to call them. It said that the phone number is not avaliable/shut down/does not exists. We called the third party we used to book the tour, they couldn't reach them either, but they said that the tour will definitely happen. Well it didn't. We waited for the bus for an hour and it never showed up. The company was unreachable. Luckily we were able to reorganize the trip through the third party with a different company but it would have been devastating if this trip was planned on the last day of our stay in Iceland or if we booked the tour directly through Holiday Tours.

 Verified Great day in Iceland
Michal was our guide for the day and made the whole experience really enjoyable from start to finish. The waterfalls and black sand beach were incredible, and the scenery throughout the day was honestly some of the most beautiful we’ve ever seen. We were lucky with clear skies and sunshine, but it was still very cold — definitely bring good layers. The glacier hike was a real highlight. Michal’s knowledge of the area and the science behind it all made it even more interesting, and it never felt like he was just reading from a script. The hike wasn't challenging for us but the conditions definitely helped, we will likely come back and book a more challenging hike but a great experience. Overall, an amazing day and a great way to see some of Iceland’s most famous spots — I’d definitely recommend it. If you’re unsure about booking because of the length of the day (I was at first), don’t be put off. The minivan is comfortable, clean and warm, there are plenty of stops, and the time goes quickly.

Fantastic day - very well organised with the handover to the hike. The team at Base camp were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and our guide Yan gave clear instruction throughout the hike. The main coach driver and guide were super helpful, giving a little insight to various sights along the way. Would defo recommend. I travelled with my 12 year old who really enjoyed the day.  Verified An unforgettable glacier adventure
Absolutely incredible glacier hike! Our tour guide, Mihail, was extremely knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor, which made the experience both informative and fun. The tour was definitely worth the money, we learned so much, felt safe the whole time, and the scenery was unreal. We saw so many beautiful waterfalls along the way that felt straight out of a postcard. Highly recommend this tour to anyone considering a glacier hike!

Highly recommend this tour! A packed day full of awe-inspiring sights and an amazing experience walking on the glacier. Our guide and driver Carlos was great. His talks along the way were really informative and we could tell he wanted us to have a great day, making an impromptu stop for a beautiful sunset. He took great care with our safety and was very patient with differing readiness and understanding across the group. He is clearly passionate and knowledgeable about all that Iceland has to offer.  Verified Beautiful glacier
I loved a lot the hike in the Glacier and I would like to spend more time there. But the glacier was really beautiful and ice has so many colors. Skogafoss waterfall was beautiful and it was nice to have time to get up to the top with over 400 stairs. Black sand beach waves were awesome. Only minus was that we couldn’t get to the beach to see rocks closer. Although the area was great. Our guide Weronica told us information about the attractions and Iceland.
